Orchestra Enigmatic - Season 6 Overview

Orchestra Enigmatic's Season 6 is shaping up to be our biggest year yet!

We’re partnering with Louisville institutions like the University of Louisville and Speed Museum this year to reach audiences in totally new ways.

Our second annual Local Composers Concert at 21C Museum/Hotel is next on our list, on January 26 & 28. Once again we’ll present an entire program of new works by Louisville musicians Daniel Gilliam, David Neville, R. Short, Tyler Taylor, and P. Kellach Waddle.

Then we’re at the Speed Museum on Sunday, February 18 for Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun (arranged for chamber orchestra), the premiere of P. Kellach Waddle’s Sacred Clock, and Arnold Schoenberg’s intimate arrangement of Gustav Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, with soloist Katy Calcamuggio.

In March we return to the Speed After Hours series for a concert of Impressionist women composers on March 16th. Later that month we begin our partnership with the University of Louisville for a concert of premieres by student composers in Comstock Concert Hall. Join us for that on Tuesday, March 27 at UofL.

Our last concert of the season is our contribution to Derby Week. On Wednesday, May 2 we present The Music of Bjork. Of course, we’ll feature a number of local guest artists not only as arrangers/composers but also vocalists, instrumentalists, and light artists.
